Cardinal Ritter offers academic scholarships to incoming freshmen based on scores from the Cardinal Ritter Placement Tests. To be eligible for these scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year, students must submit an application for admission by January 30, 2021. Eligibility for the following awards is based only on the Cardinal Ritter High School Placement Test. Scores from placement tests administered at other schools will not be used for awarding scholarships but can be used for assessment and academic placement.
Cardinal Ritter High School Scholar Awards are four-year scholarships given to incoming freshmen. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and meet the ISTEP+ standards in both math and language arts in their sophomore year in order to continue to receive their awards. Scholarship recipients will receive a notification letter by March 30, 2021.
The Cardinal Joseph Ritter Scholar Award
Awarded to students with a composite score in the 98th or 99th percentile on the Cardinal Ritter Placement Exam. The $4,000 award is divided equally over four years at Cardinal Ritter High School. This award is automatically awarded to students who qualify and apply.
The Cardinal Ritter President’s Scholar Award
Awarded to students with a composite score in the 96th or 97th percentile on the Cardinal Ritter Placement Exam. The $3,000 award is divided equally over four years at Cardinal Ritter High School. This award is automatically awarded to students who qualify and apply.
The Cardinal Ritter Principal’s Scholar Award
Awarded to students with a composite score between the 90th and 95th percentile on the Cardinal Ritter Placement Exam. The $2,000 award is divided equally over four years at Cardinal Ritter High School. This award is automatically awarded to students who qualify.
Parent Club West Deanery Achievement Award
Awarded to one student from each West Deanery Parish with the highest composite score of those students scoring between the 80th and 89th percentile on the Cardinal Ritter Placement Exam. The one-time $500 scholarship is to be used during the student’s freshman year at Cardinal Ritter High School. Each award automatically granted to the students who qualify and apply from each parish.
Cardinal Ritter Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship
The Cardinal Ritter Alumni Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 for the purpose of awarding scholarships to incoming freshmen whose parents or grandparents are graduates of Cardinal Ritter High School. This scholarship represents the importance of tradition, family, and the value it brings to the Cardinal Ritter community. Applications for the Legacy Scholarship are distributed to eligible students in the fall of their freshman year, and the scholarship is awarded at halftime of the Homecoming football game. The number of awards each year may vary. The award is based on academic standing, school and community involvement, and completion of the application and essay. The one-time $500 is scholarship is to be used during the student’s freshman year at Cardinal Ritter High School.

Cardinal Joseph E. Ritter Memorial Scholarship
Cardinal Joseph Ritter was the first Archbishop of Indianapolis and is best known for his groundbreaking efforts in desegregating Catholic schools in Indianapolis in 1937. Cardinal Ritter serves as an example for our students, staff, and graduates today. We honor his efforts in achieving social justice and equality by awarding this scholarship to two incoming freshmen students. Award is based on the completion of an application, including an essay concerning racial equality and overcoming racial discrimination and prejudice in our world today. The one-time $500 scholarship is to be used during the student’s freshman year at Cardinal Ritter High School. This application is due at the end of March.
John Lorenzano Memorial Scholarship The John Lorenzano Memorial Scholarship is now available to any 7th-11th grade student who has a parent who is a Police Officer or Firefighter. It is a $1,000 scholarship and students must possess a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, in accordance with our mission to advance and assist with Catholic education, is once again offering two $1000.00 scholarships ($500.00/semester) for the 2021-2022 school year: one to Cardinal Ritter High School and one to Scecina Memorial High School. It is open to all 8th grade students planning to attend either school. The student is required to write an essay, limited to 300 words, reflecting on their thoughts about the Value of a Catholic Education.
The essay will be evaluated by L.A.O.H. members on the following criteria: Comprehension, Organization/Grammar, and Creativity. In addition to the essay, a complete entry will include the students’ information form, along with his/her most recent report card.
