Honors Algebra II

Prerequisites:  B- or better in Honors Algebra I or A- in Algebra I; Freshman enrollment is based on results of the Algebra I proficiency test.

This course expands and develops the topics learned in Honors Algebra I.  Content areas include the topics listed for Algebra II with greater emphasis on preparation for upper level mathematics content.

A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.

Algebra II (1 & 2)

This course is designed to follow Algebra I (1 & 2).  The entire year of Algebra II will be covered in the spring semester.  A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.

Algebra II

Prerequisites:  C- or better in Algebra I; Freshman enrollment is based on results of the Algebra I proficiency test.

This course further develops the topics learned in Algebra I with extensive work on learning to graph equations and inequalities in the Cartesian coordinate system.  Topics include: relations and functions, systems of equations and inequalities, conic sections, polynomials, algebraic fractions, logarithmic and exponential functions, sequences and series, and counting principles and probability.  A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.

Honors Algebra I

Prerequisites:  A Basic Skills Math Grade Equivalent of at least 10.0, a Quantitative Standard Score of at least 600, and a Language Grade equivalent of at least 9.0 on the High School Placement Test.

Honors Algebra I covers the same topics as in Algebra I, but with more emphasis on problem-solving and critical thinking skills in order to challenge the mathematically talented student.  Projects are incorporated into the lessons for the purpose of applying mathematical concepts. A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.

Algebra I (1 & 2)

This course is designed for those students who did not receive a C- average or better in Algebra I.  This course will meet everyday.  A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.

Algebra I

This course develops traditional principles such as:  solving equations and inequalities, performing operations with real numbers and polynomials, working with integer exponents and factoring polynomials, doing exercises with relations and functions, graphing linear equations and inequalities, graphing and algebraically solving linear systems, solving quadratic equations, and introducing topics from probability and statistics.

A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.

Algebra I Lab

Algebra I Lab is a mathematics support course for Algebra I.  The course provides students with additional time to build the foundations necessary for high school math courses, while concurrently having access to rigorous, grade-level appropriate courses.  The five critical areas of Algebra I Lab align with the critical areas of Algebra I:  relationships between quantities and reasoning with equations; linear and exponential relationships; descriptive statistics; expressions and equations; and quadratic functions and modeling.  However, whereas Algebra I contains exclusively grade-level content, Algebra I Lab combines standards from high school courses with foundational standards from the middle grades.  This course counts as a mathematics course for the General Diploma only or as an elective for the Core 40 and Core 40 with Academic Honors diplomas.  A student taking Algebra I Lab should also be enrolled in Algebra I during the same academic year.

A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.

Mathematics Lab

Mathematics Lab provides students with individualized instruction designed to support success in completing mathematics coursework aligned with Indiana’s Academic Standards for Mathematics.  This course is a requirement for any student who still needs to pass ISTEP+ Grade 10 Mathematics.  A TI-84+ GRAPHING CALCULATOR IS NEEDED.
